Meet the Staff

Jessica Scott

Jessica Scott

Executive Director

Jessica Scott comes to COGNITION with twenty years of experience in science education, non-profit management, and community engagement. Jessica lived in the midwest for ten years while she served as Gallery Leader at the Saint Louis Science Center, and as Education Director for The National Great Rivers Research and Education Center (NGRREC). She created NGRREC’s education program which later won the 2011 U.S. Water Prize for their commitment and success in promoting water education. She served four years on the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation Board, which assists the National Great Rivers Museum. Jessica met her husband, Peter, in Colorado where she held several positions in local government before becoming a regional director for a national non-profit. She is a proud auntie to her three nieces and nephews (all under the age of 4) and dog mom to her energetic coonhound. Jessica has a biology degree from Swarthmore College.

Lindsay Moose

Administrative Assistant

Lindsay Moose works part-time as Cognition’s Administrative Assistant.  Lindsay has a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Health, and also has Associate Degrees in Science and Fine Arts.  Lindsay also studied geology and meterology at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

Katie is a senior at Ferrum College where she is captain of the Women’s Swim Team.  Her major is Environmental Science with a minor in Agricultural Science.  Katie is also a vendor at the Mocksville Farmer’s Market and is helping Cognition develop a Farm-to-Table program.  Katie teaches the Tree ID for Kids class at Cognition.

Grace is a student at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
